In Memory Of Alexander McQueen

He was an artistic genius, left us all breathless and taught me that fashion is self expression and that every piece tells a story. I have no idea how to end this, I think because there are no words to describe his work. But I will leave you with some words of this man who was truly one of a kind...

Clothes and jewelery should be startling, individual. When you see a woman in my clothes, you want to know more about them. To me, that is what distinguishes good designers from bad designers. -Alexander McQueen

Minimalism...Less is More

Jason Wu, Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang are just few of designers embracing a new trend. Going back to basics is making it's mark and frankly I'm kind of relieved. I mean for the past couple years all we've been seeing is layer after layer (although I do enjoy layering) bangles after bangles, and blinding colours so shocking you could probably see them in a blizzard., parading down the runway. It's kind of a breather for all of those who are growing a little tired of "Go Big or Go Home" theory. But there is always the argument, "Won't it be boring?" and I can say truthfully I've thought the same thing a few times ( I have this image in my head of girls walking in lines...more like marching and they're all wearing white blouses, black knee length skirts, white knee socks and big fat Mary Janes. But I know these amazing designers won't let my re-occuring dream become a reality) but then I looked back on some of the greatest style icons...Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Jackie O and realized paired with a few statement pieces, classic can be fun! And not to mention very chic.

Fall Is Going Retro!

Louis Vuitton is going fifties, Prada sixties, and Dolce and Gabbana channeling the debut of men's wear for women. This fall fashion is going back in time to some of my favorite era's!

Alexander Wang 2010 RTW

"It's about women who make money and women who take money" said Wang. The show was centered around Wall Street business women and care free gypsies. Polar opposites, but of course he pulled it off! The first round of models came out wearing men's wear, waistcoats and jackets, the amazing stock broker's point of view. Simple yet powerful. The second round which was definitely a more gothic feel, velvet lace and plenty of blacks and grays. With a tough feeling to it out came velvet jackets and pin striped pants. With some fangs and fake blood they could have been vampires easily. I loved it!

Chanel Makes A Statement With Icy Runway

Karl Lagerfeld imported lots of snow from Sweden to Paris for his Fall 2010 show. With a 240 ton Iceberg sitting in the middle of the stage the models paraded out ankle deep in icy cold puddles. One things for sure Lagerfeld did not hold back on the fur this year. Between Fendi and Chanel you can be sure to see lots of Woodland creatures, whether fake or not in stores this year. The show was amazing and definitely cool! ( Yes I realize the cool comment is lame but whatever :P )

My Top 10 2010 Met Costume Gala

1. Drum roll please! I have to give this one to Miss Jenifer Lopez! Jenny From the Block rocked her Zuhair Murad gown. I was left speechless when I saw this dress, and trust me speechless is very rare for me.

2. Second place goes to Mila Kunis in her lovely Vera Wang gown. Looks to me some black and gray tulle was used, it was elegant and left me with an edgy aftertaste. Beautiful!

3. Anne Hathaway looked amazing in her Valentino gown. She look like a Princess and glowed royalty.

4. Jessica Szohr in Versace. The Gossip Girl rocked the Black and Gold, Mermaid style gown. Always making a statement.

5. Giselle Bundchen wore Alexander Wang and I have to say she looks AMAZING for just having a baby 6 months ago! Oh, and she kicked some fashion booty in that dress.

6. Sixth place goes to one of my Fashion Icons Alexa Chung. She looked so chic in a 3.1 Phillip Lim Tuxedo. Can this girl get any more glamorous?

7. Sarah Jessica Parker wore a Halston Heritage gown proudly as she is the spokes woman for the comeback line. As always, looking radiant.

8. Blake Lively kept it short and sweet in her Marchesa frock. I have to say her long legs looked awesome in that dress.

9. Mad Men star January Jones went futuristic in hot pink and black YSL. Although I say futuristic it king of gave me a 1920's Audrey Hepburn vibe.

10. And last but certainly not least Eva Mendes in Dolce and Gabana! It was floral and reminded me of a passionate tango. It was flirty and very her.

Congrats to the top ten. Everyone there looked absolutely beautiful but these ten for me looked freaking AMAZING!

Viktor and Rolf

Famous fashion duo undress 90's supermodel Kristen McMenamy down to the basics.

For their Fall 2010 collection Viktor and Rolf put a new twist on their Paris Fashion Week show. McMenamy walked out onto staged wearing most of their pieces. As the models walked out onto stage the two proceeded to peel piece by piece off of Kristen and dress each model. A few words to describe this collection? Big Black and Glamorous as the theme was appropriately named "Glamour Factory"
